All About Dampers and Louvers

Shoemaker damper and louvers are high quality. Dampers are made of steel or aluminum and can be a vertical or horizontal mount. Louvers are made of aluminum and can have a 2" or 4" frame depth. You can combine them with a 20 gauge sleeve to make a damper/louver combo.

Damper/Louver Subgroups



  • Dampers are categorized as air control, pressure relief, face and bypass, or backdraft.
  • Dampers have opposed or parallel blades, depending on series.
  • Dampers are available as round, square or rectangle.
  • Series include: 3000OBD, 3000P, 3000PR, 3100, 3510, 3520, 3530, 3550, 3560, 3570, 3580


  • Louvers have a 4" or 2" frame, depending on the series.
  • Most louvers are standard with a bird screen but are available with an insect screen.
  • Louvers are available as round, square, rectangle, or other special shapes.
  • Series include: 4500, 4525, 4550, 4600, 4700, 4800, 4901


  • Combos are made of a louver and a damper connected by a 20 gauge steel sleeve.
  • Combos can be used for intake or exhaust.
